Packaging & Storage
We generally use as little packaging as possible at Lettuce, although of course some items could not be transported unless we do so – brown bags are our preffered choice – naturally……..although they are not the ideal way to keep most produce, except mushrooms of course…….or when you want your avocadoes, tomatoes or bananas to ripen.
We suggest that you transfer most vegetables in particular into airtight containers, or peak fresh bags to decrease dehydration while awaiting consumption and stored in your fridge. If you would like us to send you peak fresh bags then please buy:
Peak fresh bags $3.30
If you want an ice block to be packed with your produce, as you will be leaving your order unattended for an extended period then please buy:
Ice block assist $1.10 This will be a frozen bottle of
All of these items are available in the Storage section
Buy Cello bags, etc in bulk – in the Storage sectionStorage
New Customers
So…..you’ve decided to place an order……… before you go shopping press the Refresh button at the top of the screen to make sure you are looking at the most current list.
The first thing I always suggest to both new and existing customers is to start by reading This Week at Lettuce or Lettuce Weekly – this is basically a report on quality of fresh produce, availability of grocery lines and general info that will be helpful when ordering.
Now.go to On-line Shopping. Use the tabs on the left-hand side of the screen to help locate the goods you wish to purchase.
If you can not locate an item you are specifically looking for then go to the Find tab located at the top of the screen to enter a key word which will take you directly to all of the available products containing that word.
NB. When ordering for example 500gm of tomatoes, you must enter into the quantity field 0.50 – the most important part here is that you must enter the 0 before the decimal point. When you are happy with your purchase, simply press the Buy button, a box will appear asking you to confirm your order that displays the subtotal of your purchase. To confirm simply press OK, or of course cancel to void that single transaction.
At anytime whilst making your order you can see what is in your shopping basket by simply pressing the trolley icon or pressing the basket tab at the top of the screen.
When you have completed your order simply press the Checkout tab located at the top of the screen.
You will be asked to choose a Shipping Method, by one of our Drivers $6.60(Bob, Ben, Scott Liam,David or Chris) or to the Outer areas of Sydney$8.80 – to determine which delivery option is available to your area, please refer to Delivery Areas. If in doubt, simply choose Lettuce Deliver as your method of shipping.
The next section asks you to choose a Tax Region – please disregard this field.
Our web site has been built around an American template and we can’t seem to take this field out.
Then accept the Terms and Conditions (we are normal people, who simply wish to be paid on delivery).
Now, on most computers including my Computer at home, to see the next field you must scroll down the screen. You are asked to Choose a method of Payment. The options include:
Cash on Delivery – If you choose this option we will assume that you will be home on delivery. At the time we call you to confirm we have your order, we will give a window of 2 hours in which we will make delivery to your designated address. We will also call you the day before your delivery to give you the exact total of your bill.
Use my details on file – If you choose this option we will assume that you would like to pay by credit card. We do not take this information from you over the Net, but rather take these numbers from you over the phone when we call to confirm your order has been accepted. We will charge your card the day of your delivery. So please ensure there are sufficient funds available.
Cheque on delivery – If you choose this option we will assume that you will be paying by a personal or company cheque on delivery. Most people pay with a cheque on delivery if they are not going to be home.
We will also call you the day before your delivery to give you the exact total of your bill.
It is important at this point to know that most of our customers are not home on delivery. Please consider a shady, safe area in which we can leave your delivery if you will not home at the time we will give to you on verbal confirmation of your order.
If your order will be unattended for an extended period, we can also deliver in an insulated polysterene box to keep your order cold. We rarely ever have problems with meat defrosting, although we suggest you buy your meat from us in packs of 2 (any cut/s) to decrease the chance of the meat defrosting over an extended period in the elements of the day (4 – 8 hrs).
Now hit Next, you will be asked ‘Do you wish to use the details you entered on your last visit ?’. As a first time customer you will press cancel.
Now you are asked to enter your personal details, which are kept confidential at our end.
